Highly Reflective Glass The highly reflective glass used in front surface mirrors is characterized by high reflectivity values of up to 94% in the visible spectrum. This is achieved by applying an interference coating to the aluminum reflector surface in order to strengthen reflectivity. The coating system comprises alternating layers of low and high refractive index dialectic materials deposited on a single side by means of magnetron sputtering in a high vacuum. Front surface mirrors are used in situations where a beam of light must be deflected 90º with almost no loss of light intensity, and without producing a double image. Highly reflective front surface mirrors from FLABEG make a major contribution to the superior image quality of the latest generation of digital front and rear projectors. Other applications for these mirrors include overhead projectors and heads-up displays. |
